Within micro-machining, a variety of materials are used including ceramics, coatings, metals/alloys, and polymers, and each type of material has different subtypes that are used in micro-machining.
Ceramics are primarily used for laser cutting while coatings play an important role in patterning electrodes, patterning coatings, and removing coatings. Metals/alloys are designed to be used with laser cutting, laser marking, hole drilling, and foil engraving, and polymers are purposed for laser cutting, machining for minute features, and hole drilling.
