Forth, an at-home blood test provider, has partnered with leading women’s health review platform, The Lowdown, to offer polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) blood tests to the community during September 2024 for PCOS awareness month.
PCOS is the most common female hormone condition in the UK that affects around 1 in 10 women according to the NHS. Due to a hormone imbalance, women will often have missed periods, irregular cycles, unwanted hair growth and weight control issues.
For women experiencing symptoms of PCOS, a blood test can help you get the answers you need says the companies. The comprehensive test checks your AMH and testosterone levels as well as other markers of potential underlying causes.
PCOS is also a leading cause of infertility and can also increase the risk of other health issues such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. However, the lack of accessible testing options means many women go undiagnosed for years according to the companies. Through this partnership, Forth and The Lowdown say they are taking a significant step in ensuring that testing is accessible to women across the UK and aim to increase awareness of the condition and support women.
Sarah Bolt, CEO of Forth said: “We are delighted to partner with The Lowdown to give women better access to testing so they can find the answers they so desperately need."
