Efficient cleanrooms benefit from turnkey design & build innovation

The requirement for cleanrooms has expanded rapidly over recent years with the increase in high precision engineering as well as pharmaceutical, medical and nano production.

This has led to companies seeking out innovative cleanroom design and build expertise, helped by technology such as 3D modelling, to provide bespoke solutions for enhanced and efficient operations.

In today’s cleanroom environment, a typical project will not only include the cleanroom itself but the infrastructure that the end client requires to carry out its operations. Whether it’s a mezzanine floor, storage provision or interiors fit-out, being in a position to offer a complete turnkey design and build package covering all bases of a project is of significant value to the end user.

Providing a turnkey service can be particularly advantageous in terms of the timeframes as it allows the overlap of design and construction, reducing the overall project delivery schedule.

And with a single point of responsibility for the client to deal with once the contract is awarded, can also make things simpler. The client is also able to engage at an early stage with the design team and supply chain to try and achieve a more practical or buildable solution if necessary.

The CleanRoom Companyfrom contact to completion

When The CleanRoom Company merged with The SEC Group in 2020, they combined over 20 years of experience in the cleanroom and controlled environments marketplace, with extensive wide ranging resources within the Group, including state of the art design packages including revit & 3D modelling, installation, H&S management, contracts administration and project management.

Furthermore, the SEC Group has dedicated divisions for office interior fit-outs as well as the design and build of data-driven intelligent warehouse storage solutions both in the UK and for projects overseas, thereby adding expertise for installations requiring more efficient and optimised storage capacity; something of a hot topic with floor space within warehouse and production facilities at a premium.

Cleanroom constructions can transform standard production areas into classified cleanroom environments and our knowledgebase, industry experience and ‘hands-on’ approach allows us to work with customers to develop a perfect solution for each client.

With many different styles and methods of construction, from simple soft wall booths, through hardwall to full modular systems partition systems, all aspects of the project can be provided including wall, doors, ceilings (including those with walk-on ability), flooring including vinyl and resin, lighting and a full range of support services and supplies.

All facilities can be validated to fully comply with ISO 14644-1:2015 classifications and their Federal Standard and GMP equivalent.

The SEC ethos of teamwork, pride, passion, dedication and integrity coupled with our overall innovative approach to cleanroom projects is a breath of fresh air in the industry.

Medical devices industry - order to extend cleanroom originally designed and installed by them in 2009

The project requirement was to extend an existing facility built in 2009. The facility was originally designed to be extended and the AHU and associated equipment sized accordingly.

Existing materials were matched so that the final installation will seamlessly link old and new into one 1200m² Cleanroom. All new works were carried out including ductwork and new terminal HEPA filters, in readiness for the removal of original dividing wall to open up the total area. The client’s request for full walk-on capability over the ceiling area was met with the latest design energy efficient LED lighting units.

Nigel Sainsbury, sales and operations manager who led the project, said: “The original facility had been operational for over 10 years with only normal maintenance required over that period. Testament to our product selection and in particular the client’s maintenance of the facility, it looked only a year or so old. The Client was confident in our ability to carry out the works on the extension whilst maintaining his important NHS-related production in place until the latest possible time.

With specific H&S requirements and with our own in-house H&S manager we were able to carry out and manage these works safely and on programme.”

Medical devices industry - £500,000 order

This significant turnkey project was for a specialist contract manufacturing and engineering company, who provide injection moulding and services to the medical, optic, and electronic industries.
