Med-Tech Innovation Connected Health Award Winner 2020 - AINOSTICS Ltd

Med-Tech Innovation News spoke to AINOSTICS Ltd after it was crowned the winner of our Connected Health Award for 2020.

Congratulations on winning the award. Where did the idea come from initially?

AINOSTICS was founded by our CEO, Dr Hojjat Azadbakht, who holds a PhD in Imaging Sciences and Biomedical Engineering, with the belief that technology can be used to precisely diagnose and monitor diseases causing dementia at the earliest symptomatic stages, by revolutionising the current diagnostic methods, which have remained pretty much unchanged for around 20 years.

Tell us a little bit more about AINOSTICS, the solution you put forward focuses on dementia, does it focus on other areas too?

AINOSTICS is a fast growing and highly innovative medical data analytics company, providing data management and advanced analytics to both healthcare clients and the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on the early diagnosis and management of neurodegenerative diseases.

Our purpose is to advance medicine and healthcare by turning data into clinically meaningful information. We develop integrated technologies that aim to improve and optimise every stage of the clinical care pathway for such conditions, as well as pharma trials for dementia therapeutics, and we continue to invest in infrastructure and innovation to support our ambitious vision.

What we are developing at AINOSTICS is an array of platform technologies that aside from dementia, can be utilised for the diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring of a range of other neuropathologies, such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Brain Tumours, etc.

Given you draw on information from patient data, are you in a position to tell us how you develop the relationships to make that possible? And to make it secure?

Data security is of great importance to us. For example, we develop our algorithms and solutions so that they can operate without the need for any user or patient identifiable information, or to be able to run at the point of data collection.

We are also one of the SME partners in the UK government funded London Medical Imaging and AI Centre for Value Based Healthcare, where the consortium is leading the way globally in developing the state of the art in artificial intelligence (AI) methodologies, such as federated learning, which have security and data privacy at their heart.

Any plans to develop it further?

We are constantly working to identify, develop and combine the most exciting medical imaging and data analytics innovations with the best of artificial intelligence solutions to unlock the future of personalised diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy monitoring and planning.

Through connecting basic science with medical expertise, we aim to address the unmet needs of the demanding clinical environment, augmenting human knowledge with objectivity and reliability.

We are hoping to showcase some of these innovations very soon!

Anything else you’d like to add? You can include a short victory speech here, too, if you’d like to!

As a very young start up, it is a great honour for us at AINOSTICS to be selected as the winner of the Med-Tech Innovation Award in the Connected Health category.

Over the last year, we have been able to win a number of other high-profile international awards and form global collaborations and partnerships with various academic institutions, hospitals, pharma and industry leaders in relevant sectors, all of which has been made possible by our team’s continued dedication, so I would like to thank them for simply being amazing!
