Start me up: Pitch @ Med-Tech Innovation Expo preview

The second day of Med-Tech Innovation Expo will see the return of the Pitch start-up competition where 12 start-ups will compete against one another on the Introducing Health-Tech Stage in front of a panel of judges. 

Organised in conjunction with the NIHR, SBRI and Innovate UK, this is an opportunity for these exciting companies to hone their pitching skills and attract the attention of any potential investors.

The start-ups featuring at this year’s pitch are:

• TCC Casemix – based in Newark-on-Trent TCC-Casemix has spent three years developing, and testing at scale, a revolutionary data capture, analysis and simulation information system for use by medical device manufacturers.
• Gliff.AI - gliff.ai offers low-code/no-code software to develop an imaging AI as simple as possible. Its platform is specifically designed for teams who are developing AI solutions for healthcare, medtech and biomedicine, and pharmaceuticals.
• ERA Endoscopy – ERA produces and markets a robotic endoscopy system that allows for painless, safe and easy colonoscopy
• 52 North Health – This start-up has a vision to improve health outcomes and health equity by reinventing care pathways for all people across the world. It does this by developing fully integrated clinical, AI and medical-device based systems to improve healthcare delivery and quality of life
• QV Bio – This Manchester-based start-up is developing implanted technology for the next modality of cancer treatment electric field therapy. The aim is to deliver transformative outcomes for Glioblastoma patients. 
• IVIS Technologies - iVis aims to lead the high-tech sector in corneal refractive and therapeutic surgery by means of an integrated process of research, development, production, and distribution of active and non-active fully integrated remote controlled medical devices:  the 4D Suite, a platform for customised refractive and therapeutic surgery entirely conceived in house.
• Neuronostics - develops digital solutions to support healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, prognosis and management of neurological conditions. BioEP, the primary technology, is a digital biomarker which indicates likelihood of future epileptic seizures from clinical EEG recordings.
• RIC3D is an Italian benefit start-up specialised in developing software platforms and complex models primarily for the medtech sector. Specifically, RIC3D uses AI, 3D printing, and VR technologies to carry out international R&D projects aiming at creating innovative products and services to be launched on the market.
• MeeToo – An early interventional mental health service, MeeToo delivers fully moderated, evidence-based, anonymous, peer support to young people aged 11-25 via an app, with access to a directory of third party support services and educational resources.
• Caddify – Caddify aims to help medical device manufacturers accelerate production with its app development.
• Oxford Heartbeat - A digital health company working to make successful high-risk brain stenting surgeries the norm, not the exception. The company has developed medical software, PreSize Neurovascular, to enhance surgical preparation for high-risk minimally invasive brain stenting interventions.
• Camstech - Camstech Ltd in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London and the Barts Health NHS Trust is developing a novel technology for the rapid and sensitive detection of host resistance to therapeutic antibodies.

While the judges deliberate, the NIHR, SBRI and Innovate UK will give a brief overview of their offering. The Pitch sessions will commence at 13:30 on the Introducing Health-Tech Stage on Day 2 of Med-Tech Innovation Expo. The winner is expected to be announced at approximately 15:00.
