Remote vital signs solution secures £1.2m Innovate UK loan

Lifelight, a technology that allows a smartphone or tablet device to measure blood pressure, pulse and breathing rate simply by a patient looking into the device's built-in camera for 40 seconds, has secured a £1.2 million Innovate UK continuity loan to fast-track remote patient monitoring of vital signs.

With COVID-19 accelerating the demand for scalable remote patient monitoring, further Innovate funding will support Lifelight to measure a user’s vital signs from home. Lifelight offers a solution to the user, who needs to look at their smartphone or tablet screen for up to 40 seconds therefore avoiding unnecessary contact for both user/patient and healthcare worker as well as minimising patient distress. Being a 100% non-contact device Lifelight enables patient self-management via one device, often the patient’s own smartphone and cuts down on unnecessary in-surgery or home visits.
