ALine and Nectar partner to advance IVD products

ALine, Inc. and Nectar Product Development, have announced a strategic partnership to advance point-of-care IVD medical products.

Creating a product within the life science or diagnostic markets is a powerful aspiration for many organisations as this segment of the market is constantly looking for innovation. However, taking a novel technology from the lab and turning it into a viable product that you can make available on the market isn’t easy. From communicating the vision, addressing the technological hurdles, and even building out the best user interface -- there are many key components at stake! ALine and Nectar have teamed up to speed up the process and provide guidance to innovators who want their life saving technology brought to market.

Dr. Levine, founder and CEO of Aline, said: "This partnership between two well-known and reputable industry veterans in the medical device space will relieve a major pain point in IVD development—getting the microfluidic consumable design to interface robustly with the instrument while meeting all the instrument design and performance requirements. We've seen how lack of expertise in consumable interface design can diminish product viability, leading to engineering and project cost overruns. Our partnership with Nectar will allow us to work side by side on customer programs, right here in Southern California."

Darren Saravis, founder and CEO of Nectar added: “This is a major development within the medical device industry, and as such it will have major implications on multiple fronts. The heart behind this effort is to take patient care to a whole new level, empowering device companies to innovate IVD technologies in lockstep with cutting edge instrumentation.

“There is a huge benefit here in that we’ve created a turnkey process for both the consumable and the instrument from early stage through manufacturing.”
