EMAHSN opens digital health accelerator applications for 2021

A programme of support for digital health innovators and companies, to help them with the spread and adoption of their technologies within the NHS, is now open for applications for its 2021 cohort.

The East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator provided by the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN) is designed to help companies further the spread of digital health technologies and innovations within the NHS, with a package of support available to successful applicants.

Support is tailored to the need of the business and has included one-to-one support and coaching, value proposition development and opportunities to showcase products to NHS decision-makers and influencers.

Applications to the scheme are invited from all digital health innovators, ranging from fully-fledged businesses to those with ideas and concepts for digital health innovations that they would like a platform to develop.

Applications are now open and close Monday 19 October.

East Midlands AHSN commercial director Tim Robinson, said: “Our key purpose as an organisation is to support the spread of health innovations at pace and scale. We are uniquely placed between the NHS and industry, and this Digital Health Accelerator will make the most of that relationship to help companies navigate the healthcare system and maximise on their innovations. We look forward to welcoming the successful companies to the scheme later this year.”

EMAHSN is running a virtual question and answer session to answer any queries about the accelerator. This will take place on Thursday 24 September, 10.30-11.15 am. To register for this session or to receive a recording, you can email: emahsn@nottingham.ac.uk

From 2019, the scheme has supported five companies, including three newly recruited companies and two alumni members from the year before.

Sam Thwaites, head of sales EMEA from Qardio Europe, a member of the most recent accelerator cohort, said: “The programme has been extremely useful and allowed us access to contacts and information we would have found more difficult without being members. The introductions from the EMAHSN team have allowed us to quickly develop real world evidence to support early market entry of our products. The knowledge and support of the EMAHSN team has been a real asset to us and would definitely recommend the accelerator to anyone thinking of applying.”
