Hospital offers robotic-arm assisted knee and hip replacement procedures

Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital has started to offer Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted total and partial knee and total hip replacement procedures.

Bringing innovation, investment and commitment to patient care in Cambridge, the use of the Mako Robotic Arm is changing the way surgeons operate on patients in need of full hip, knee and partial knee joint replacements.

A group of robot assisted orthopaedic surgeons based at Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital are using the Mako robot to create a specific 3D plan for their patients, which enables them to perform joint replacement procedures with greater surgical precision.

Better accuracy can mean faster recovery, fewer complications, decreased pain and a higher chance of the joint returning to normal function with a new joint that lasts longer.

Sophie Hudson, sales and services manager at Nuffield Cambridge, said: “I am delighted to announce that we are now offering patients the full robotic package with Mako Robotic Arm Assisted Surgery, including access to Total Knee Replacement, Partial Knee Replacement and Total Hip Replacement. Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital is proud to be the only hospital in East Anglia to offer patients robotic surgery for hips and knees.”
