Adapttech partners with Guenther Bionics on prosthetics distribution

Biomedical scale-up Adapttech has partnered with Guenther Bionics to distribute prosthetic fitting solutions to the German market.

Adapttech promotes patient mobility by creating devices that use key health data points to improve patient outcomes. Adapttech’s first product, the INSIGHT System, is designed to improve the fitting process of lower-limb prostheses for amputees. In Germany in 2019, there were more than 62,000 amputation surgeries reported, with around 16,500 surgeries performed for major amputations.

Frederico Carpinteiro, CEO, Adapttech, said: “Our new partnership with Guenther Bionics demonstrates fantastic progress in our commitment to the development and distribution of patient-centric prosthetic solutions. Incidences of major amputations are growing globally due to rising numbers of health and age-related conditions resulting in increasing need for prosthetics. Germany is a growing market for orthopaedic technology, and we have an exciting pipeline of products in development which are undergoing user-testing ahead of being released later this year.”

Guenther Bionics is focused on research and development in the field of orthopaedic technology.

Mona Reissberg, Guenther Bionics, said: “This partnership with Adapttech supports our mission to deliver innovative orthopaedic technology to the German market. Our team of experts focus on the research, design, marketing and cost-effectiveness of prosthetics and orthotics to meet the higher standards of other industries in medical technology fields. Introducing technology from Adapttech to this portfolio will enable us to deliver improved patient outcomes for prosthetic users.”

A series of recent licensing deals with Modus Health, the University of Washington and Advanced Rehabilitation Therapy sees Adapttech expanding its focus in patient outcomes management through new hardware devices, apps, data servers, AI-supported analysis, and professional reporting for insurance payers and healthcare professionals. Adapttech will release new technology in 2022 incorporating this licensed IP, and these advancements will now serve the German market as Adapttech expands its distribution reach through Guenther Bionics.
