Amcor announces milestone following Bemis acquisition

Packaging firm Amcor has announced it has achieved a milestone in healthcare packaging since the acquisition of Bemis Company on 11 June 2019. By adapting its approach to product development and innovation, Amcor can now provide key healthcare packaging solutions unrestricted to customers in Europe that were part of the Bemis portfolio.

Mark Laycock, sales director medical at Amcor, said: “We have been on an exciting new journey in the last two years where we have learnt from our Bemis colleagues in North America. Adapting from Bemis capabilities, we are now able to offer key packaging solutions and services to healthcare customers in Europe, providing them with access to our broader portfolio and global support to their Business Continuity Planning.”

Amcor has long-standing experience with high-quality, heat-sealing adhesives for medical grade papers and Tyvek material. Adding to that is the well-known, high performance Tyvek adhesive and the CR27 heat seal coating technology developed by Bemis, which will now be available in Europe for the first time under the Amcor brand and will be produced in Winterbourne, UK.

Amcor’s customers, including medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical customers, will be offered to experience the CR27 heat seal coating technology for medical, sterile barrier applications. The CR27 aims to deliver enhanced strength and excellent porosity – without compromising on barrier properties.
