RDS announces availability of new display module
Display solutions and embedded systems provider, Review Display Systems (RDS) has announced the availability of a new fully integrated 4.1-inch TFT display module.
The DWIN DMG72720T041-06WTC features an IPS (in-plane switching) TFT display with a built-in dual-core microcontroller-based ASIC, a touch controller and a fully integrated InCell capacitive touch panel.
The new 4.1-inch smart module implements a UART-based serial communications display interface that enables a method of system integration and supports the development of custom user applications without the need for any additional embedded electronics to drive the display.
The display module features a square 4.1-inch, IPS TFT LCD with a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels, which enables wide viewing angles of 85 degrees in all directions (left/right, up/down), and supports 8-bit RGB data enabling a colour palette of up to 16.7million colours. A white LED backlight delivers a specified brightness rating of 400cd/m².
DWIN provide and support a free PC-hosted software development tool, DWIN Graphic Utilised Software (DGUS) that enables custom graphical user interfaces to be easily created and developed. A predefined application development environment supports a wide range of graphic functions and library elements. Additionally, user defined images, icons, corporate logos and branding can be easily uploaded to the development environment.
Justin Coleman, display business manager, RDS said: “The smart DWIN 4.1-inch TFT display module has been designed and developed to enable users to quickly design and develop their own custom, graphical user interfaces. The readily available PC-based development tool allows graphic designs and interfaces to be easily created, tested, and refined.”
The development and implementation of graphical user interfaces are aided by the InCell PCap (projected capacitive) touchscreen which is fully integrated within the LCD cell. The 4.1-inch display module has outline mechanical dimensions of 82.8mm (w) x 79.1mm (h) x 6mm (d) and an active display area of 73.98mm (w) x 73.98mm (h). An operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C is supported. The display module also features 16MB of onboard Flash memory which enables graphics, images, and text to be uploaded via the serial interface.
