STEPS and Fourier sign MOU on advanced rehab and robotics

STEPS Rehabilitation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Fourier Intelligence.

The partnership aims to establish collaboration to advance the knowledge and promotion of advanced rehabilitation and robotics to benefit the lives of clients in need of these services. Using ground-breaking techniques and studies, they aim to use the technology to underpin research and improve understanding of the use of robotics and AI for assisted living, movement, and patient rehabilitation.

Zen Koh and his team, who are from Singapore, visited STEPS Rehabilitation as part of a worldwide tour. STEPS was one of only two UK facilities they visited. STEPS founders, Jules Leahy and Toria Chan gave a behind-the-scenes tour of the inimitable rehabilitation facility which is home to the STEPS RehabHub, the first in the UK installed by Thor Assistive Technologies, the UK distributor and sales partner for Fourier Intelligence.

RehabHub

The RehabHub is a suite of rehab technology which focuses on both upper and lower limb robotic therapy, cognitive feedback, and training for those who have suffered lifechanging injuries. During the visit, the Fourier team had the opportunity to see the STEPS RehabHub in action and were able to speak with members of the STEPS Rehabilitation therapy team and clients, who have access to this incredible technology as part of their intensive rehabilitation.

This visit follows a successful two days of exhibiting at the Naidex Show in Birmingham. STEPS Rehabilitation therapists, Lucy Greensmith and Kostas Falidas attended the event alongside Fourier Intelligence and Thor Assistive Technologies, to showcase some of the new technology that will soon be available to the UK market. Greensmith and Falidas shared their experiences and offer support and advice as experienced therapists who use the Fourier products with clients at STEPS Rehabilitation.

STEPS Rehabilitation is joining some the Fourier Intelligence team at Rehab Week in Rotterdam. This event brings together different conferences in the field of rehabilitation technology to foster cross disciplinary communication between the designers of the technology and the clinicians using it with individuals to enable advancement of rehab technology.

Zen Koh, co-founder and Global HQ CEO of Fourier Intelligence, said: “Fourier has been driving innovation and technologies through our various research partners but what matters most is making them applicable and meaningful for the patients. Our team is very excited to be working with the STEPS team to further revolutionise the way technologies are used within the clinical setting. We’re hoping to further close the gap between a manufacturer and customer’s pain points. This can only be achieved by speaking and working closely with those who deliver these directly to the patients.”

Toria Chan added: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to work closely with Fourier Intelligence and directly influence the design of future technologies and ways they can be implemented to further advance rehab outcomes for our clients.”
