The only way is Essex: UK firm announces ‘Essex Success Regime’ with NHS Trusts

Insignia Medical Systems, a UK based enterprise imaging provider, has been selected to supply three Trusts working in partnership under the banner of the ‘Essex Success Regime’ (ESR), with a fully integrated PACS solution at each hospital.

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals Foundation Trust, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, and Southend University Hospital Foundation Trust were looking to transform how they deliver radiology services within the region by not just sharing images, but also sharing services.

With contracts signed in February, all three Trusts, Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust  (MEHT), Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SUHFT), and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTUH) are now live, whilst the migration of 639 million images (some 155TB of data) from across the three Trusts is being completed using Insignias proven Migration Service.

Chief Information Officer, Martin Callingham, responsible for all three Trusts said, “This is the first major project that we have delivered since entering into partnership under the Success Regime and demonstrates our commitment to delivering high quality patient care and services across the three hospitals. Insignia have provided the solution to sharing of images and data across Mid and South Essex resulting in a seamless service benefiting patients and staff.”

Keiran Donovan, IT Projects and Transition Manager, Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust commented, “Alongside a functionality rich user interface in InSight, Insignia demonstrated their extensive experience in managing complex migration projects by completing the work ahead of time.

“The deployment team have been incredibly supportive throughout the entire PACS replacement process, and the comprehensive training programme from Insignia is something we haven’t experienced before in other technology based projects.”

Having successfully implemented their sharing services across a number of regions, including eight Trusts in the South West, three Trusts in the Midlands and a regional sharing domain across Oxfordshire, Insignia work hand in hand with the NHS to provide seamless image sharing, to support a wide range of clinical requirements.

This service will enable the entire regional imaging patient record to be automatically presented to the end users within their own PACS system, including the reports from the three different RIS systems. The Insignia Sharing Systems keeps all shared studies up to date in real-time to ensure that and changes are immediately reflected across the region.

Speaking about the new contract, Richard Dormer, managing director, Insignia Medical Systems, commented, “Insignia are delighted to have been selected by the three Trusts to supply three fully integrated PACS systems, alongside our Insignia Sharing Services. We always strive to stay at the forefront of technology, offering marketing leading solutions to our customers to enhance their ability to improve patient care across not only their own Trust but across their region and beyond.”
