University of Exeter awards medical imaging contract to Insignia

The University of Exeter has awarded the contract for a Research PACS and VNA to Insignia Medical Systems, the UK based enterprise imaging provider.

The Insignia systems will enable shared services with the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospitals and other NHS Trusts, creating a regional clinical and research hub of excellence.

Karen Knapp, head of medical imaging / associate professor in musculoskeletal imaging, University of Exeter, said: “We are very excited to be working with Insignia, we chose them because they provide a PACS software solution which is both flexible and secure. This will enable us to enhance our teaching, building familiarity with their PACS which is widely used throughout the South West as well as having secure storage and analysis ability for images taken in our clinical research.”

The PACS and VNA will be predominantly used by students at the University as part of their course, although will also be used for medical research advancements particularly in advanced MRI.

The system will be linked with Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust who have been a customer of Insignias since 2013.
