Withings expands B2B division with new research offering

Connected health player Withings has expanded its B2B division with the launch of Med Pro Research.

Created to expand Withings’ support for researchers, universities, hospitals and other health organisations, Med Pro Research is a new division that works with institutions and experts to utilise the company’s portfolio of connected health devices, medical metrics and data analytical capabilities to gain real-world evidence into a variety of health topics.

Withings devices have been used in more than 100 research studies by organisations including Harvard University, American Medical Group Association, Scripps Health and Cornell University. These studies have explored a wide range of health topics including disease prevention, chronic disease management, women’s health, cardiovascular health, obesity and sleep.

With the launch of Med Pro Research, Withings aims to expand its ability to partner with medical institutions and support their research efforts to better understand health issues and create effective, efficient and lasting solutions.

Med Pro Research offers support in the following areas:

Data Variety: Withings’ connected health devices can measure up to 20 data points. This includes ECG tracking capabilities being added in Europe and soon available in the United States. Additionally, due to the high retention rates of Withings products, researchers utilising the connected devices can expect lasting participant engagement in their studies.

Methodological Support: Benefiting from its past experience and its team of medical professionals, Withings can help shape the study protocol to achieve results and engage study participants.

Access to data: The company has over a decade of experience monitoring and tracking health and medical insights and provides an open API for researchers to gather data from Withings devices used by participants in their studies.

Tools to fit all populations: Between Withings’ connected devices and its B2B division, which can support researchers, pharma groups, hospitals and other health organisations, research partners have tools and resources available to them.

Charlotte Puechmaille, head of strategy for new health businesses at Withings, said: “As the health parameters measured by our connected devices become more medical, with clinically validated metrics, like ECG available in Europe, we created MED PRO RESEARCH to further support clinical trial research. Now with our new division, we are able to better support researchers, medical professionals and other innovators as they work to understand and improve health globally.”
