TLM Laser returns to Med-Tech Innovation Expo

TLM Laser is participating at this week's Med-Tech Innovation Expo 2019 event. A key part of TLM’s focus this year is on providing information and guidance on UDI compliance at a help zone located on the company’s stand.

The implementation of the UDI Directive for medical device manufacturers has been in force since 2014 for companies selling their products on the American market. However as of 2020 there will also be the same mandatory standards within the EU and other countries. With the new deadline looming, it is essential that manufacturers ensure that they are ready, and that their products are clearly identified to ensure reliable traceability and patient safety.

As the UK and Ireland distributor for FOBA Laser, TLM is promoting FOBA’s closed loop machine vision and laser solution. Provided as a completely integrated solution within the laser system, the patented vision system IMP (Intelligent Mark Positioning) ensures consistent and correct marking with pre-mark and post-mark optical validation, as part of a three stage closed-loop marking process. This vision-supported laser system helps manufacturers build a more robust and cost-effective UDI marking process to GS1 standards.

New from TLM Laser this year is an example of laser-cutting technology from Universal Laser Systems. As UK distributors for the range of ULS laser products, TLM is showcasing the VLS system, and visitors to the stand will be able to discuss the wide range of systems and laser source options available. This technology is ideally suited to a broad spectrum of cutting applications, including organic materials. A unique feature from ULS is the Intelligent Materials Database, which is built upon several decades of research and development by scientists and engineers. This is generally recognised as the most extensive repository of laser materials processing parameters for materials in the range of 10 watts to 500 watts.

TLM Laser is on stand B7, and company representatives can discuss UDI compliance and any specific laser applications in detail on Wednesday and Thursday.
