ABHI announces Endomag as first company to be located Innovation Hub

The first company to locate themselves at the newly opened ABHI Innovation Hub has been announced.

The Hub is a partnership between ABHI and the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. It was developed to offer UK companies the chance locate themselves at a world-class facility and develop their US business with clinicians, investors and mentors.

The first company to locate themselves at the Hub is Endomag, a developer of medical devices for breast cancer detection and removal.

The company has developed a non-radioactive technique that helps surgeons locate and remove breast cancer tumours that cannot be easily felt. By implanting a device smaller than a grain of rice into the tumour, surgeons can locate it during surgery and remove all of the tumour, maximising the amount of healthy tissue that is left behind.

The system, Magseed, received FDA approval in April last year and is now being used at multiple sites in Texas with adoption increasing across the US.

Through the Hub, we expect to increase our engagement with the unique and innovative community that the Dell Medical School is fostering, while building on our mission to improve the standard of cancer care for everyone, everywhere.”

Companies based in the Hub are also able to participate in the ‘Texas Health Catalyst’ programme to foster health research and advance innovation.
