At this year’s MD&M East, silicone injection moulder, GW Plastics, is celebrating the 20th year anniversary of its Process Development & Training Center.
Expansion
The company has expanded and upgraded the Process Development & Training Center to develop and debug entire manufacturing cells in a dedicated non-production facility.
Based in Royalton Vermont, the centre was founded in 1998 to expedite mould testing and qualification and improve overall speed-to-market. Since then, the centre has been responsible for developing production processes for new moulds to be introduced to all GW Plastics production facilities worldwide. The centre is currently only one of eight companies worldwide to have an RJG certification as a Mould Tryout Facility.
The Process Development Center is now able to fully service GW Plastics’ engineering departments in the scientific process development and qualifications phases for entire manufacturing cells, including the machine, mould, and automation. The finished manufacturing cell is then delivered to a GW production facility as a completely automated and qualified manufacturing system.
The centre also acts as the education hub for GW Plastics, offering RJG injection moulding courses to employees and customers to help improve their injection moulding and tooling knowledge.
