UK headquartered medical device company the ITL Group celebrates 40 years in business this year.
Founded on 25 February 1977, readers will know the design and manufacturing group as a global contract design, development, manufacturing and consultancy partner for some major names in medtech.
The ITL Group has established operations in Shanghai, China and the USA, in addition to its headquarters in Kent, UK.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary landmark, the ITL Group has invested in a brand refresh and new website. The company also hosted a special event at Lympne Castle in Kent on the anniversary date for staff from across the globe.
The event featured a company awards presentation, honouring employees for their contributions over the past four decades. Special guest The Rt Hon Damian Green MP also attended on the day.
ITL Group has more than 100 staff worldwide. During 40 years in the industry ITL says it has completed over 400 projects – from humble beginnings developing gamma counters for radio-immunoassays, today the group has a portfolio that includes in-vitro diagnostics (IVD), point-of-care devices, surgical robots, cancer staging and treatment, patient connected medical devices, and next generation DNA sequencing as well as experience in the development of consumables.
Tom Cole, ITL Group’s CEO, said: “This is such an exciting time for us and it’s great to celebrate this anniversary with our loyal employees from all over the globe. We’re nothing without the expertise and dedication of our team so for the 40th anniversary what was most important to us was saying thank you to them.”
“The industry has come a long way in the last four decades and we’ve seen significant developments in the processes and technology that we use, however what hasn’t changed is our ethos - to enhance lives through medical technology. We’re honoured to mark 40 years in the industry and are proud of all the life saving innovations we’ve helped realise during that time.”
He added: “Even though we’ve been around for 40 years and have built a strong reputation, we continually need to affirm our global position. This rebrand was all about showing that we’re a global player and communicating our abilities to take medical devices to new markets.”
ITL was founded as Wilj International in 1977. In 2013 there was a management buyout which saw directors Paddy Greenwood, Tom Cole and Greg Smith complete the buyout from ITL’s previous Swiss owners.
In 2016 the group recorded a profit of over £1.5 million.
