As part of Medilink Midlands strategic growth plans, the company become the latest organisation to take space at Charnwood Campus the rapidly growing science, technology, and enterprise park.
As the Midlands life science industry association, Medilink Midlands strives to help the sector grow and in so doing supports the ongoing development of the regional offer. Charnwood Campus is a key part of this as the UK’s first Life Science Opportunities Zone. The mix of world-class flexible laboratories, specialist manufacturing facilities and office space, coupled with a wide range of amenities, technical and clinical resources, makes it ideally suited to being a focal point of the regional life sciences ecosystem.
Medilink has worked closely with Charnwood Campus since it took ownership of the site in 2013, having recognised the potential of the assets and the opportunities that these held for the Midlands life science community and its own growing network. Similarly, Charnwood Campus have always been members, advocates, and supporters of Medilink.
Medilink Midlands feels that now is the ideal time to make this move, following the company’s creation and with Charnwood Campus recently securing another anchor tenant in the form of Medilink Midlands member Charnwood Molecular, who join 3M, Almac and Kindeva on-site.
By locating on the Campus, Medilink intends to play an instrumental role in the ongoing development of the local sector community. This includes plans to build upon and expand the current events offering to the life sciences community with ambitions for Charnwood Campus to form a central location and hub of activity.
Darren Clark, Chief Executive of Medilink Midlands, said: “Charnwood Campus has always been a great friend to Medilink. It has always been seen as a gem for the region and their commitment to creating a life science community and ecosystem makes it a natural choice for us to establish a base. With our own position in the Midlands life science community, we look forward to helping to realise the full potential of the Campus.”
Gosia Khrais, commercial director at Charnwood Campus, added: “Charnwood Campus offers lab and office space. We are introducing a range of business support activities including expert networks meetings, business mentoring sessions, upskilling and recruitment assistance to new and existing life sciences companies from the region. We warmly welcome Medilink Midlands as a new occupier that shares our ambition to accelerate the growth of the sector in the Midlands. We hope to take our partnership to the next level and develop a tailored and robust framework of support where complementarity of expertise between the two organisations brings unparallel value to organisations looking to grow and scale-up.”
