A Chesterfield based medical manufacturer has increased production of pressure ulcer mattresses and protective escape hoods to keep up with demand during the global Coronavirus outbreak.
Speed Plastics, which specialises in high frequency welding, has been working around the clock to cater for the increase demands of patients and healthcare systems across the world.
The company has put in place extra manufacturing shifts and introduced new shift patterns to meet the demand.
Thousands of escape hoods are being manufactured and sent out around the world. These hoods are filtering respiratory protective device designed to filter out particles that are dangerous to health protecting the wearer in emergency situations to ensure maximum respiratory protection.
Demand for pressure ulcers mattress has also soared as hospital and healthcare providers seek innovative solutions to help prevent and treat bed sores in bedbound patients, as well as relieve pressure on overstretched nursing staff.
