Medtech Rising is the leading event of its kind bringing together business leaders, and international experts, to help Ireland’s global hub get ahead of the latest trends.
Dr Eoghan Ó Faoláin, Irish Medtech Association, deputy director, said: “The medtech industry plays a vital role in saving and transforming lives. Medtech Rising is an incomparable opportunity to gather as an industry to get ahead of the latest trends with the ‘Business Leaders’ Conference’, as well as celebrate the success of the sector here with the ‘Irish Medtech Awards’. Ireland is a global medtech hub, with 450 companies, employing over 48,000 people, making a global impact of €13 billion in exports. Our vision will be to strongly position Ireland as a global leader in innovative patient centred medical technology solutions, helping to set the future global healthcare agenda, with a proven ecosystem that is a major contributor to the economy. We believe that with the right supports and policies in place Ireland’s global medtech hub can shape the future of healthcare and strengthen its international position.”
Rachel Shelly, IDA Ireland, divisional manager life sciences, commented: “IDA Ireland is proud to be part of the Irish Medtech Awards as they showcase the ambition, the innovation, and the collaboration across the entire SME and multinational community. They recognise the massive impact of the sector here, from an economic, innovation and skills perspective. For over 70 years, Ireland has built a reputation as a trusted, stable location for highly complex medical technologies. The Irish ecosystem offers access to world class talent, a broad pool of leading suppliers, and cutting-edge research and innovation capability. Importantly, Ireland remains a highly attractive base for global trade as a gateway to Europe and beyond.”
Garrett Murray, Enterprise Ireland head of life sciences, said: “It’s an opportunity for the entire medtech community to come together to get access to the latest trends and share best practice. The Irish Medtech Awards not only gives recognition to the companies in Ireland but winning an Irish Medtech Award is a wonderful achievement to market internationally to investors and customers. Events like Medtech Rising provide an opportunity to highlight the exciting innovation and R&D happening in Ireland. Supporting medtech companies to scale is central Enterprise Ireland’s strategy, ‘Leading in a Changing World 2022-2024’. Ireland is a big player in this sector globally and Enterprise Ireland supported companies have even greater ambition for the future.”
Ciara Finlay, Irish Medtech Association, senior executive, added: “For nearly two decades the annual Irish Medtech Awards have been a measure of progress in this industry which is committed to improving lives. In that time the number of categories has doubled as the industry has grown, with award categories ranging from Company of the Year, and Collaboration in Medtech, to new awards to reflect progress in the sector with the Best Diversity and Representation Company Initiative Award, as well as the Sustainable Medtech Company of the Year Award. We are now calling on medtech companies, and those organisations which work in partnership with this innovative industry to apply for the Irish Medtech Awards by deadline of 6th October.”
