A total of 26 organisations from the North West of England have been shortlisted across 12 categories for the 2019 North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards.
Organisations from Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire will find out the winners during an event at The Hilton, Liverpool, on 7 March.
The Awards are a collaboration between the Innovation Agency; NIHR Clinical Research Network: North West Coast (CRN NWC) and NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC).
Innovation Agency chief executive Dr Liz Mear said: "We're proud to give our continuing support to these awards, recognising and celebrating excellence in life sciences research and innovation across our region, a region increasingly being recognised as a leader in this field.
“Outstanding clinical research and cutting-edge innovations continually drive up the quality of patient care across the health system, and these awards give us an opportunity to showcase new ideas and techniques that can be applied to other organisations."
Categories include those supporting people with motor neurone disease, research into young-onset dementia, partnerships promoting holistic approaches to health and wellbeing among others. The awards recognise work being undertaken in healthcare across the North West Coast, as well as the impact of clinical research and innovation in patient and social care.
CRN NWC chief operating officer Jacqui Pirmohamed said: "The Clinical Research Network, North West Coast would like to thank all those who entered the North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards. We have received a record number of entries in 2019 representing our most competitive year since the awards began and it’s reflective of our ambitious research teams now setting new gold standards. Congratulations to all those who were shortlisted and we look forward to celebrating everyone's significant achievements on the night."
This year, more than 140 entries were submitted across 12 categories. A full list of the finalists can be found on the North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards website.
